"Exile," a dramatic episodic thriller best described as a Cuban "Count of Monte Cristo," Antonio Cabrera, a boat mechanic in Fidel Castro's Cuban Navy is falsely imprisoned when his naval colleagues lie and conspire against him. After 13 years in La Cabaña Prison, after being framed for murder, he escapes to Miami in 1975, finding himself at the epicenter of the explosive anti-Castro sentiment that divides the city's politics and culture.
Not long after he arrives, he obtains enormous wealth, changes his identity and wields his new-found power to masterfully orchestrate revenge on the four conspirators who destroyed his life. Set against the backdrop of Cuban militant extremism that permeated the powder-keg city of Miami from 1975 - 1980, along with a cadre of covert U.S. government operatives, Antonio ensnares each conspirator in a fascinating web that leads to their undoing, their demise, and ultimately his revenge, yet there is still, hope for a life fulfilled with the one he's always loved.
The series, set against the backdrop of Cuban militant extremism that permeated the powder-keg city of Miami from 1975 - 1980, where car bombings, building, boat and plane explosions, and assassinations are an incredibly common occurrence. Antonio Cabrera, the show’s lead character, has been rotting away in Fidel Castro’s Cuban gulag, La Cabana Prison for 6 years.
This highly produced audio scene is an exposition delivered by Antonio to his new-found friend, Don Manolo, a former academic also jailed by Castro. Antonio shares with Don Manolo some fond memories.
This narrative was written as an opportunity to showcase the remarkable “whistling talent” of world-class whistling impresario, Geert Chatrou whose extraordinary whistling and custom music tracks comprise the sound design.
